Insurance company turns a 5% operating loss to 7.6% profit

In 2008, IAG NZ decided to invest in a coaching culture initiative.

Culture transformation had been identified as a priority for the organisation due to lower than expected business results and a decrease in overall engagement scores, jeopardising the organisations ability to achieve their growth strategy.

Implementing a coaching framework across the organisation was seen as a priority and the development of a coaching capability was positioned as a key component within the Senior Leadership Development program.

Several surveys have since been conducted to determine changes since the start of the initiative with the following significant findings:

  1. Engagement increased 50%
  2. Staff turnover halved
  3. 94% of people managers using coaching skills every week.
